Assignment. In approximately 800-1000 words, submit an essay that explores the following question, utilizing the material from the course thus far:

• Pretend that the townspeople did not get the bell at the very end of the book. Is Major Joppolo still a success in the town of Adano? Why or why not? Essentially, this question is asking you to take a position on whether or not the delivery of the bell was crucial to Major Joppolo’s success as a leader. You must include specific events and instances from the book to support any stance.

A few important notes about this paper

1.Your thesis statement, or your argument, should be the final sentence of your introductory paragraph.

2.You are welcome and encouraged to include references to other course materials to support your ideas. You might find the “Why good leaders make you feel safe” TED Talk from this week and our HBR article from the first week particularly helpful.

3.Important: it is expected that you use significant evidence/quotes from the text to support your ideas. A good rule of thumb is 1-2 quotes/specifics per body paragraph.

4.Your papers should be cited in MLA format to the best of your ability. Please see the MLA guide in ‘Syllabus & Resources’ section of the course and refer to your past papers on which I’ve provided you feedback. Be sure to include a Works Cited.
