Write an essay of literary analysis presenting your interpretation of one of the short stories from the course calendar( The story of an hour). Use at least 4 quotations from the story to provide support for your argument. Provide additional support by discussing how the plot, setting, characters, point of view, symbols, style, tone, or language support the theme (discuss at least one of those 8).

This essay should have at least 5 paragraphs and include a clear thesis statement that you support with textual evidence.

Incorporate ideas from at least ONE piece of literary criticism about your chosen story (from a literary database, such as the Literature Reference Center or Literary Research Center available online through the DCCCD library

Remember—you are doing a close examination of ONE story only.

LENGTH: 3 pages of 800 words.

FORMAT: Use the MLA format: Times New Roman, 12-point font, one-inch margins, double spaced. The heading in the upper left corner of the first page (only) will have your name, professor’s name, class, and date. Put your last name and the page number in the upper right corner of every page.
