Purpose: This paper will explore the challenges posed to sustainability by different types of sustainable tourism. You must choose one of the forms of tourism identified in the course (Indigenous tourism, nature and eco-tourism, rural or cultural tourism, community based tourism, geo-tourism, and last-chance tourism) and using the academic literature on that tourism (or tourism generally), argue what is the most significant challenge to developing sustainable tourism in that form. For example, you can argue that eco-tourism poses a serious challenge to environmental sustainability because it encourages over-tourism in sensitive environments.

Your paper should include:

  • An introduction and a clear statement of your thesis, which should clearly identify your argument.
  • A clearly developed argument, using evidence from at least 3 academic sources, in support of your thesis.
  • A conclusion that restates your thesis and the argument found in your paper.
