From this chapter women continue to play a prominent role in colonial affairs. What role did women play in wars of independence? Also, discuss some of the factors that led to the collapse of Spanish and Portuguese authority in Latin American countries. Discuss some of the conservative ideas mentioned in Chapter 5, and how do they compare to liberal ones? What were some of the overarching ideas and issues that were matriculating throughout Latin America during this period. What was unique about Brazil during this period?
