Do you think he has a point?

Do You Think He Has A Point? Is There A Benchmark That Science Should Not Cross (For Moral Reasons). If There Is A Line That Should Be Crossed, On What Moral Grounds Would We Determine That Boundary?

He is concerned that going down the path of what he calls reproduction (as opposed, in his view, to procreation) will lead to more extreme interventions to engineer the types of children people can have. Do you think he has a point? Is there a benchmark that science should not cross (for moral reasons). If there is a line that should be crossed, on what moral grounds would we determine that boundary?

What behavioral and emotional consequences might Thelma experience as a result of her situation?

Kim Woods P432

Thelma, a 16 year old girl, suspected that her father had a drug problem but never knew it for certain. One day, she found out from some friends at school that her father used to buy crack cocaine from a known dealer. She agonized for over a week about whether she should tell her mother. She eventually did. Her mother asked Thelma’s father to leave the house and filed for a divorce. Thelma felt that the breakup of the family was her fault.

Read the article on http://www.aaets.org/article230.htm that discusses behavioral, medical, educational, and emotional consequences of family dysfunction and substance abuse.

Read the following article http://www.cigna.com/healthwellness/hw/medical-topics/teen-alcohol-and-drug-abuse-tp17749 on Teen Alcohol and Drug Abuse, paying particular attention to the Why Some Teens Abuse Alcohol and Drugs and Prevention Strategies sections.

Answer the following:

Did Thelma do the right thing by revealing her knowledge of her father’s drug use to her mother? Explain why.

What behavioral and emotional consequences might Thelma experience as a result of her situation?

What risk factors for teen substance abuse are present in Thelma’s life?

What practical action would you recommend for Thelma to fight against the guilt and anger she feels about the situation with her father?

What practical action would you recommend for Thelma’s mother to reduce Thelma’s risk for substance abuse?

connection between substance abuse and child maltreatment

Kim Woods P90x

2-3 pages minimum, zero plagiarism, apa format

Research clearly indicates a connection between substance abuse and child maltreatment. Among confirmed cases of child maltreatment, 40 percent involve the use of alcohol or drugs. An estimated 480,000 children are mistreated each year by a caretaker who has alcohol or drug problems. Additionally, alcohol and drug problems are factors in a majority of cases of emotional abuse and neglect.

Answer the following:

  • Given these statistics, why do you think a more concerted effort is not made in the media to make citizens aware of the association between substance abuse and child abuse?
  • Choose one of the following audiences, and describe a plan to heighten awareness of this problem:
    • Grade and high school students
    • Parent or child organizations such as Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts
    • Welfare recipients
  • Include three action points for implementing this awareness plan nationwide to the chosen audience.  Be sure to specify:
    • Who will deliver the information?
    • How will the information be delivered?
    • What systems will be put in place for support if needed by participants?
  • Include one additional action point to address prevention strategies in the population chosen above.

Create a two- to three-page plan.

identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.

Assignment Week1

The first step of the EBP process is to develop a question from the nursing practice problem of interest.

Select a practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research.

Start with the patient and identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.

Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT statement in your selected practice problem area of interest, which is applicable to your proposed capstone project.

The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest. This literature search should include both quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your practice problem.

Select six peer-reviewed research articles which will be utilized through the next 5 weeks as reference sources. Be sure that some of the articles use qualitative research and that some use quantitative research. Create a reference list in which the six articles are listed. Beneath each reference include the article’s abstract. The completed assignment should have a title page and a reference list with abstracts.

Suggestions for locating qualitative and quantitative research articles from credible sources:

  1. Use a library database such as CINAHL Complete for your search.
  2. Using the advanced search page check the box beside “Research Article” in the “Limit Your Results” section.
  3. When setting up the search you can type your topic in the top box, then add quantitative or qualitative as a search term in one of the lower boxes. Research articles often are described as qualitative or quantitative.

To narrow/broaden your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example: Diabetes and pediatric and dialysis. To determine what research design was used, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will provide a description of data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

DQ 1 Week 1

Discuss this character’s neurotic needs and trends.

Television Character

Television provides us with many interesting examples of interpersonal and neurotic behaviors. In this assignment, you will delve into the life and actions of some of your favorite television characters and analyze them using Horney’s coping strategies.

Interestingly, Horney’s three coping strategies for one’s neurotic needs correlate very well with three of Adler’s different personality types:

  • Horney’s moving-toward strategy—Adler’s getting or leaning type
  • Horney’s moving against—Adler’s ruling or dominant type
  • Horney’s moving away from—Adler’s avoiding type

Using Horney’s theory of coping with neurotic needs with three different interpersonal orientations, select a TV program of your choice containing a character that Horney would identify as exhibiting neurotic behaviors. As you watch a full episode of this show, focus on this character and tally each instance of moving-toward, moving-against, and moving-away behavior.

Research Horney’s theory using your textbook, the Internet, and the Argosy University online library resources. Based on your research, respond to the following:

  • Discuss this character’s neurotic needs and trends.
  • What do you think has happened in his/her life that has led to these behaviors?
  • In addition to general life events, how has gender and culture influenced the character’s neurotic needs and behaviors?
  • How do these interpersonal orientations impact the way this character interacts with others and develops relationships?

Write your initial response in 4–5 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
