For this essay, construct a 4-5 page essay (12 point Times New Roman font, double-spaced with 1” margins) which explores an object and its cultural significance. You will be describing the object’s literal, physical being along with any symbolic meanings or importance contained within the object. You must also conduct some internet research about this object, trying to become an “expert” on that object’s history, use and importance. You may use any source you wish, so long as it is a) from a credible source and b) is not an encyclopedia article. As you are using research for this project, you must also include a works cited page in MLA format.

You’ll want to not only describe the physical object, but also explore its origins, uses, value or importance to a relevant culture or community. We’re trying to examine not only the surface-level use or value of an object, but its deeper roots and meanings.
