As I begin to reflect on this topic and how I manage my financial needs, it is definitely true that most people live from paycheck to paycheck. I for one definitely, I am one of them. In fact, one of my new year resolutions was to save this year. Ihad a goal and I am no where near achieving my goal. As a single mother with three kids and a mom that lives with me, it is very difficult to get by. As my income increases, my responsibility increased as well. This is nothing but a sad reality for me. Being able to stay on a budget has helped me, prioritize my goal in order. I have been able to lose about 20 pounds through diet. I have not been to the gym since the onset of the COVID -19 crises. My goal is that by the end of the year I should reach at least 70% of my goal.

Personally, there are many factors I know is stopping me from achieving my goal, number one being stressed. I have been mentally poor when it comes to stress hence I have not been able to focus on the things that matter. Not so much for cultural practices because my culture promotes healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits. That being said, as an APRN when I encounter my patients, I need to bear on the back of my mind that every culture is different and be mindful of each other culture.  knowing that at the end of the day no matter the goal we want to achieve whether wealth or health, it all boils down to being able to relieve ourselves of the stress that comes with not being able to achieve those goals. After all when we are stressed we won’t be in good health and as they say “health is wealth”. Just maybe having a stress free life would bring us close to achieving those goals.
