Week 5 Response 2/1

Technology is integral to successful implementation in many projects, through either support or integration or both. Name at least one technology that could improve the implementation process and the outcomes of your capstone project change proposal. Do you plan to use this technology? If not, what are the barriers that prevent its use?

Many new technologies are becoming available in nursing care, such as home dialysis devices and new infusion pumps, which alter the everyday routines of nursing personnel. Furthermore, telecare technology and other technologies that support distant care have implications for nursing practice. The adoption of electronic information systems, such as electronic patient records, is another advancement. Technologies are intended towards improving care quality, lowering healthcare costs, and addressing workforce issues.

Health-care organizations have steadily become reliant on information technology to computerize nearly every aspect of patient care. Electronic health record (EHR) systems were installed in 96 percent of hospitals in the United States as of 2015. The usage of an EHR system in healthcare can help to improve the implementation of evidence-based programs and their outcomes. All of the patient’s medical records, as well as all of the diagnoses, are kept in the electronic health record system. In the healthcare industry, the electronic health record (EHR) is critical. It should also be adopted in the healthcare system. Computers have become ingrained in clinical workflow procedures, and any disruptions in computer access have been found to have serious effects for hospital operations, finances, patient safety, providers, and, most importantly, clinical staff. I intend to employ EHR, and the need to create an evidence-based downtime readiness and recovery strategy was recognized early on in order to achieve meaningful and improved computer system management, and, more critically, to assure safe patient care. It also aids in the gathering of accurate, up-to-date, and full information about patients, providing quick access to patient records, and lowering costs through less paperwork, enhanced safety, reduced testing duplication, and improved health.
