Twilight Zone Analysis

Now that you’ve had some practice using analyzing the monster genre, we’re going to step outside of articles in our text book and analyze a social issue in a Twilight Zone episode. Choose an episode from the following list: “The Howling Man,” “Escape Clause,” “Eye of the Beholder,” “Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up,” “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” If you have an idea for a paper on an episode not on this list, please let me approve it at least two days prior. You can view these episodes on Netflix or on Amazon Prime (both of which come with 30 day free trials). Possible issues in these episodes may include (but are not limited to) beauty standards, greed/capitalism, fear of foreigners, cultural hysteria, or mental illness. For this paper, you do not need to site any source other than your chosen episode, but as with any textual analysis, you must support your thesis with evidence from the film itself. See “How Do Monsters Reflect Their Times?” presentation on Canvas. A successful essay should address the following questions:
1. What is the episode doing?
2. How is it doing it?
3. Why is it doing it?
4. Why does this matter?
