Week 4 Dq 1& Dq2

Dq1

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the required Boldt (2012) article.

A psychology professional must be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations that govern the profession in his or her state of residence. For this discussion, access your state board of psychology’s website. Conducting an Internet search for your state’s name and “State Board of Professional Psychology” will likely produce the link to the website (i.e., California State Board of Professional Psychology). Once on the website, look for the state’s rules and regulations governing professional psychology. These are often listed as links or tabs with titles such as “Laws and Regulations”, “Rules and Regulations”, “Laws, Policies, and Rules”, “Statutes and Rules”, “Statutes and Administrative Codes”, etc. Review the complete rules and regulations for your state and pay special attention to the sections concerning rules for working with minors. Then, conduct an Internet search for information on consent and confidentiality for mental health treatment for minors in your state of residence. In the discussion, you will address the following case study:

You are a counselor. Twelve-year-old Billy is using drugs without his parents’ knowledge and has come to see you for help. Billy wants outpatient treatment for his substance abuse and informs you that his parents do not know about his drug use. He refuses to permit you to share information with his parents. While a person under the age of 18 is often considered a minor and generally most states would require them to obtain consent from a parent or guardian prior to receiving mental health treatment, there are several exceptions to this general rule.

In your initial post, analyze your state’s rules and regulations governing psychology as a profession as well as your state information on consent and confidentiality with regard to minors. Apply these regulations to Billy’s case. Elaborate on how you would approach the case by providing information on your state’s consent and confidentiality laws and assessing any impact these may have on your options for Billy’s treatment. Apply any relevant ethical principles and professional standards of psychology as they relate to this complex situation. Evaluate any personal beliefs that may conflict with legal requirements you have as a counselor within your state. Detail what actions you would take to be true to both yourself and the professional requirements.

DQ2

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the Schantz (2014) “A Young Scholar’s Guide to Building a Professional Network” article, review the Divisions listed on the APA websitepaying special attention to the divisions that may interest you, and review the O*Net Online website .

In your initial post, identify one division related to your career interest that you would consider joining and one specific job related to that division. Conduct a search on your chosen job using O*Net Online. Briefly elaborate on the information provided on the job you searched, and be sure to include educational requirements, duties, future outlook, and salaries related to the position. Use the Internet to search for and compile information about the leading employer prospects for this position in your geographical area. Compare and contrast the compiled information with that from O* Net. Include expected duties, number of job offerings found, educational requirements, job experience, and salary levels where applicable. Analyze psychology as a profession and assess the role the APA could play in aiding you in the development of a professional network. Briefly detail an initial plan for building your professional network as well as obtaining your selected job.

Discuss Dewey’s approach to understanding experience using Heidegger’s conception of mind and body and any relation to Heidegger’s approach to ontology?

PSYCHOLOGY: Theories of Inquiry

Unit 1

Due 08/03/17

The mind-body problem in psychology has been discussed consistently since Plato. Discuss Dewey’s approach to understanding experience using Heidegger’s conception of mind and body and any relation to Heidegger’s approach to ontology? In what way does Husserl’s concept of ontology relate to the ideas of Dewey and Heidegger?

Focus on Research:

Go to the Forums tab in the DC network and explore the list of active forums. Select one of the forums that you believe may be of value to you given your dissertation field of interest. Identify the forum topic you selected, and summarize the contents of the existing forum posts for that topic. Why do you believe this forum may be helpful to you? How might interaction in the DC forums be a meaningful activity during your dissertation process? Explain.

How do toys influence behavior, self-concept, and identity?

week 3 a

Step 1: In your Learning Team, read and discuss the Week Three Electronic Reserve Readings.

As you discuss these articles, pay special attention to the following topics and issues:

  • Cultural influences on toys

Write a one-paragraph summary of the main findings from these articles, as they relate to the bulleted topics and issues.

Step 2: Within your Learning Team, investigate popular toys on the market today. You can use the internet or visit a toy store to do this research. See if you can find toys that fall into the four categories above: those that may promote aggression; those that may promote pro-social behavior; those that seem to encourage or discourage gender stereotyping; and those that seem to encourage or discourage cultural differences and/or stereotyping. Identify and investigate a minimum of four toys; one from each category. Discuss your observations about these four categories. Use the questions below as guidance for your team’s analysis of the toys.

  • How do toys influence behavior, self-concept, and identity?
  • What did you observe concerning positive and negative gender stereotyping?
  • How has your research on toys and gender influenced your views on the relative influences of environment and heredity on gender and identity development in children?
  • From your review of the literature and your examination of actual toys on the market, do you believe that some toys may increase the likelihood of aggressive behavior in children?  Under what circumstances might this occur?  Explain.
  • How has your research on toys and aggression influenced your views on the relative influences of environment and heredity on aggressive behavior in children?
  • Do any of the toys that you have examined promote stereotypes? Do any discourage stereotypes? Explain.
  • Do any of the toys reflect or indicate cultural and ethnic stereotypes? What effect can you see this having on the development of self-concept and identity?
  • How do toys that promote pro-social behavior benefit development during childhood?

Create a 2-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation of your findings including detailed speakers notes. Your presentation should summarize the four or more toys you investigated and present your findings on how toys influence development.  Conclude your presentation with a discussion of the following:

  • After evaluating toys, what would you advise parents concerning how toys can influence the development of their children? What would you want them to be aware of and why?
  • Have your views about the relative influences of heredity and environment on human development changed in any way?  For example, are there things you once attributed to heredity that you now believe to be more strongly influenced by the environment, or vice versa?

Identifying Misleading Information in an Argument

“Identifying Misleading Information in an Argument”

“Identifying Misleading Information in an Argument”

  • Consider the following argument: There are many arguments for the elimination or modification of current U. S. drug laws, but one of the most persuasive involves what negative effects drug laws are having on society in comparison with the effects of the drugs themselves. In the past ten years, most forms of drug use have dropped significantly, especially among teens. Despite this, non-violent drug offenders accounted for 21.1 percent of the federal prison population. First time drug offenders serve, on average, a sentence three months longer than kidnappers, nine months longer than burglars, and thirty-three months longer than sex abusers. In 1992, the average cost of keeping an inmate in either state or federal prison was about $20,000 per prisoner per year. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with 455 prisoners per 100,000 population. It is maintaining these prisoners at great expense in an environment where they are unlikely to develop a socially constructive attitude. Perhaps it is time that we reconsider our attitudes toward those who choose to use drugs; failure to do so may cost society even more than it already has.
    • Determine whether or not the argument uses any deceptive statistics. Give your opinion on whether or not the argument has persuaded you. Explain why or why not.
    • Determine the primary ways in which statistics or authority are used in your current position in developing persuasive arguments, and provide examples of such use.

the qualities of the most effective supervisor and the least effective supervisor and explain whether you consider these supervisors to be ethical or unethical

Week 10 Discussion 1

I NEED IN AN HOUR AND PLEASE NO PLAGIARISM! I HAVE INCLUDED AN EXAMPLE.

Discussion 1: Ethics and Supervision

Counselors who are in a supervisory role must constantly be aware of their ethical obligations. Ethically and legally, supervisors are responsible for the quality of services and actions of supervisees. Ethical supervision includes paying particular attention to the following areas: competence, evaluation and due process, dual relationships, confidentiality, and informed consent. While supervision may seem fairly straightforward, it is actually a complex and often multilayered process that should not be taken lightly.

Counselors in training have an ethical responsibility to secure appropriate supervision from a qualified supervisor, align to this supervisor’s theoretical orientation as it applies to supervision, and to engage as an active partner in the supervisory process. Many states have specific guidelines for approved clinical supervisors. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are receiving the specific type, quality, and quantity of supervision that is required by your academic program and state of licensure.

For this Discussion, reflect on the qualities of effective and ineffective supervisors. Think about a time when you worked with a supervisor. This does not need to be in a counseling position or even a paid position. Consider potential courses of action if you discovered your supervisor was engaged in unethical behavior.

Post by Day 2 a description of the qualities of the most effective supervisor and the least effective supervisor and explain whether you consider these supervisors to be ethical or unethical. Then, explain how these supervisors affected your performance. Explain the significance of having an ethical supervisor. Finally, explain a potential course of action if you discovered that your supervisor was behaving unethically.

Be sure to use the Learning Resources and the current literature to support your response.

Avoiding Counselor Impairment

Week 10 Discussion 2

PLEASE NO PLAGIARISM AND I HAVE INCLUDED AN EXAMPLE!

Discussion 2: Avoiding Counselor Impairment

Burnout is a major concern for clinical mental health counseling professionals and it can lead to both professional and personal issues for counselors. It can start with counselors taking on trauma, stress, and an unrealistic belief that they alone are responsible for their clients’ wellness. There are numerous factors in a counselor’s work that might lead to burnout including: secondary stress and vicarious trauma, expanded roles and responsibilities, poor supervision, and lack of the specific tools necessary to perform the job.

Counseling, by its very nature, is stressful work. This stress, if not monitored and addressed, can lead to counselor impairment. The profession acknowledges this by ethically obligating counselors to be mindful not only of their own states of mind, but their colleagues’ health as well.

For this Discussion, review the Counselor Impairment media and consider ethics related to counselor impairment. Examine signs of counselor impairment and the potential impact this may have on clients.

Post by Day 3 a brief description of the codes of ethics related to counselor impairment. Then explain at least two signs of counselor impairment. Finally, propose a scenario using one of the signs of counselor impairment you identified that elicited a negative effect on client treatment. Suggest a solution for remedying the situation and justify your solution.

Be sure to use the Learning Resources and the current literature to support your response.

Explain how performance should be measured on the basis of the stated or suggested definition of performance for the job

week 2

Clearly defined performance expectations are essential to promoting productive employee behavior. The right performance expectations communicate what is expected of individuals at work and lead directly to contributions toward organizational success. For this assignment, research a company of your choice and one of its current job descriptions. You may find the information online or from a credible source you have access to. Present the following information in your initial post:

  • Brief explanation of the company, including the organizational mission and goals.
  • Summarize the job description, including primary duties.
  • Analyze any performance expectations presented in the job description. If performance expectations are presented, explain whether they are defined appropriately. If they are not presented, explain how performance for that position should be defined.
  • Explain how performance should be measured on the basis of the stated or suggested definition of performance for the job. Identify the evidence that justifies your recommendation for the measurement approach.

Attach a copy of the job description in question to your discussion post. Your post should directly address each question, providing references and examples to support your points. You should use at least two scholarly sources cited in APA format. Must be at least 4 paragraphs

Discuss what you have learned from researching your family’s heritage

Cultural Heritage

Due Aug. 6 2017

African-American Women

Talk to your parents, grandparents, and/or other older relatives or family friends to find out what they can tell you about your family’s heritage or genealogy (a history of the ancestry or descent of a person or family). Using whatever resources you can find, tell your family’s cultural history in a PowerPoint presentation consisting of 7-10 slides. Feel free to include pictures to illustrate your story, though take into consideration file size when you add pictures. The format and content for your presentation is outlined below:

Introduction (1 slide)Give your presentation a title and include your name. This is a good opportunity to include a family photo or other picture that demonstrates your cultural heritage.

Family Structure (1 slide)Describe your family make-up: number of people/ages, family heredity, relatives in other countries, etc.

Ethnicity (2-3 slides)Discuss your family’s ethnic background. Some questions to consider: What are the different ethnicities in your family that you and your family members know of? How important are the issues of ethnicity and ethnic heritage in your family? Do you observe particular customs because of your ethnic heritage? Are there family stories involving immigration to the U.S. or movement from one part of the U.S. to another? Did your family and/or ethnic group encounter prejudice or discrimination? If so, describe those encounters. If not, why not?

Gender Issues (1 slide)Discuss how gender roles have been distributed in your family. Has this changed over time or through generations? Is there an ethnic component to the way gender roles have been defined in your family?

Economic and Social Class (1-3 slides)Describe what social class you consider your family to belong to and why. Has your family been upwardly or downwardly mobile during your lifetime or across generations? What kinds of occupations have your family members held? Address the way class status has affected your family and whether this status is also affected by ethnicity. You can also explore how your family’s educational achievements have changed over time.

Conclusion (1 slide) Discuss what you have learned from researching your family’s heritage. In what way are the different elements you’ve explored (social class, gender, and ethnicity) connected?

Clearly identify one social policy currently in effect today.

I need help with the following Assignment.  Needs to be APA Format, 3-5 Pages not including the Title and Reference Page.  Assignment does need a Title and Reference as well.

Use the internet and the Kaplan library to research one social policy currently in effect today. Using the process outlined on the CDC website, perform a comprehensive evaluation of the policy you have chosen. Be sure to include the following elements in your evaluation:

·         Clearly identify one social policy currently in effect today.

·         Describe the population and the particular needs this policy is designed to meet.

·         NOTE: The following required elements are outlined on the CDC website and Briefs 1–7

·         Identify and attempt to engage stakeholders (discuss who they are and how this might be done in an actual policy evaluation)

·         Provide a complete description of the program or policy.

·         Focus the evaluation design–determine whether your evaluation should focus on content, implementation or impact. Discuss your reasoning and the process of your evaluation, including the questions you will be asking.

·         Gather credible evidence—using the internet and the Kaplan Library, research evidence of the effectiveness of the policy you are evaluating.

·         Make and justify your conclusions–Discuss whether the policy is effective at meeting the needs of the population it is designed to serve. Be sure to provide sound and complete reasoning for your opinion and remember to support your conclusions on the effectiveness of the policy with your research.

·         Discuss how the results of evaluation might be used (this is the “Ensure Use and Lessons Learned” step from the CDC website).

·         Make specific recommendations for updating your policy and/or improving its effectiveness. Again be sure to support these recommendations with your research.

·         Finally, in your discussion, analyze the impact of historical events, legislation, past and present political ideologies, economic and social class systems and public and private attitudes on service delivery under this policy.

Describe multiple elements of the etiology for the principal and secondary diagnoses

Psychology

 8 Pages

In this assignment, you will discuss the etiology and treatment of your principal and secondary diagnoses for the following case study using a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources on etiology and a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources on treatment. Your paper should have separate sections for the etiology of each principal and secondary diagnosis, therapeutic modalities for each principal and secondary diagnosis, justification of the selected therapeutic modalities for the disorders, application of the treatment for the disorders, and a reference page for your sources. Your citations and references should be in APA style, and your paper should be 8–10 pages in length.

Click here to read the second case study (Psychological Evaluation for Homer Brine).

Once you read the case, complete the following tasks:

  • Identify a principal and secondary diagnosis for the assigned case study with rationale for each diagnosis.
  • Describe multiple elements of the etiology for the principal and secondary diagnoses. Explain how the etiology contributed to each (principal and secondary) diagnosis.
  • Identify a specific therapeutic modality for each principal and secondary diagnosis.
  • Apply therapeutic modality to treat each of the principal and secondary diagnoses in the case study.
  • Identify at least one differential (alternate) diagnosis for the principal and secondary diagnoses.
  • Discuss key cultural factors that may influence diagnosis and treatment.

Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Include citations in text and at the end of the document in the correct APA format.
