Nursing research Research helps nurses determine best nursing practices and improve patient care. Research findings help create new treatment protocols and methodologies all of which improve patient outcomes. Nurses should continue to educate themselves because it gives them critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The skills are needed to resolve nursing issues that they encounter while taking care of different patients. Education helps nurses develop collaborative skills that help mutual relationships with patients and coworkers. Education in culture, languages, or community helps ensure that nurses offer culturally competent health care that improves patient experience and health care outcomes. If nurses do not take it upon themselves to continue their education they will lack the skills needed to offer quality health care and therefore will not help decrease morbidity and mortality rates.
