Evidence based practice in Nursing
Purpose The purpose of this PowerPoint assignment is to promote evidence-based practice within
the nursing profession. The assignment provides the opportunity to examine barriers to EBP,
facilitators for EBP, ranking system for the level of evidence, and identify a change theory
framework that can guide implementation of evidence into practice. The student will review
the literature for current evidence to ensure up-to-date nursing practice.

Assignment In this assignment, the student will examine evidence-based practice and develop a
PowerPoint presentation that includes an introduction, barriers to EBP, facilitators
for EBP, ranking system for the level of evidence, and a change theory framework that
can guide implementation of evidence into practice, as well as supporting literature.
Guidelines for Content
1. Create a PowerPoint presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint.
2. Develop the following slides for your PowerPoint presentation.
a. Introduction (1-2 slides)
• Describe the purpose of the presentation.
b. Identify the Four Barriers to Evidence-Based Practice (4 slides)
• Identify four barriers to evidenced-based practice and place each
barrier on a separate slide and briefly describe the barrier.
c. Identify Two Facilitators of Evidenced-Based Practice (2 slides)
• Identify two categories of facilitators that promote evidence-based practice
and place on one slide. (1 slide)
• Provide two examples of how they can facilitate EBP and place examples on
one slide. (1 slide)
d. Identify the 7 Levels of Evidence of the Ranking System to classify Evidence and
briefly state what is important about each level. (3-7 slides)
e. From the list below, select one of the change theories that can guide systematic
implementation of EBP and identify the steps/phases/stages of the change theory.
