Instructions

The purpose of this assignment is to understand federalism, separation of powers, and the checks and balances of the United States system of Government.

Using APA formatting, write an essay of around 500 words (excluding the word count from the title and reference pages) please read the following questions:

  • What does it mean to say that the U.S. system of government is based on the concept of federalism?
  • What is meant by “separation of powers”?
  • Describe what is meant by the checks and balances system.
  • Where in the Constitution is the Necessary and Proper Clause found? What authority stems from this clause?
  • Describe the power and privileges of the U.S. President.
  • What are the steps in the impeachment process of the President?

All papers will be graded for content, clarity, grammar/spelling, and appropriate use of APA formatting guidelines. A minimum of two references must be utilized.
